Elysian holiday 2021

It’s finally the most wonderful time of the year– the holidays!

What better way to plan out this festive time than to create an epic, inexpensive bucket list? Whether you want to keep things exclusively at home or get some fresh air, if you have kids or want to spend some quality time with your significant other, rest assured that Elysian Living has you covered!

All Elysian Living properties make it enjoyable for some comfy, cost-efficient activities.

The holiday season requires us all to have fun and enjoy the little luxuries in life, and luckily, there’s a BUNCH of things we can do. Here are some ways to create holiday memories without breaking the bank:

Decorate your apartment:

Is it really the holiday season if you don’t have your apartment decorated? Fill your home with lights (lots of them), a Christmas tree, ribbons and fake snow! Be festive and bring out your creative side. Your apartment is made and designed just for you. Take advantage of that, and tailor your decorations to how you like to picture the holiday season.

Bake cookies while listening to Christmas music:

Name something more relaxing than spending the day baking cookies and listening to Christmas music. I’ll wait. Who doesn’t love the aroma of fresh baked cookies taking over your entire apartment? Sing a song or turn on a holiday playlist. I can guarantee almost anyone will feel the Christmas cheer!

Paint a picture:

Painting is such an underrated hobby. It’s so peaceful and it brings out your creative side (our partners at Pinot’s Palette can attest to that)! Kids paint pictures and share it with their friends and family, so why can’t we? Paint a picture for a loved one or keep it for yourself to hang somewhere in your Elysian Living home. Art is meant to be admired!

Go out to grab a coffee or hot chocolate:

It’s winter time, and you find yourself needing some extra energy or you’re craving a sweet treat. Make your way to your nearest Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for a quick stop just to satisfy your needs. When is a random trip to a coffee shop ever a bad idea anyway?

Go for a walk or jog:

Go for a walk or jog: It doesn’t matter where or when, just go outside and take a breather from whatever you were doing in your apartment all day. Maybe you need some sunlight or your pet needs to be walked. You can even just make a quick lap around the Elysian Living properties. Just go outside and get moving!

Drive/walk Elysian Living to see holiday lights:

Holiday lights look the best at night. We highly recommend taking the time to see some holiday lights and decor that your Elysian Living neighbors have put together. It’s always a beautiful night to go sightseeing in your community, especially during the holidays when you can see and feel the Christmas cheer. You can even get some inspo on how to decorate your place as well!

Create holiday crafts:

Kids love arts and crafts. Cut up some paper snowflakes, have them make their own Christmas ornaments or write Christmas cards to friends and family. This will keep them busy!

Build a gingerbread house:

A holiday classic. Building a gingerbread house is fun, artsy and time consuming– which are all great reasons to get the whole family involved!

Family game night:

Card games, board games, puzzles or iPhone apps. Believe us, you have a ton of options. Family game nights are the key to family bonding. Let there be nonstop laughs and cheers because that is what the holidays are all about!

Get matching family pajamas:

Festive. Need I say more?

Date night at home with a home-cooked meal:

Skip the greasy fast food places and crowded restaurants by stirring up a home-cooked meal. Cooking together is both romantic and delicious (it’s a win-win situation). Find a recipe you and your partner can both agree on and bring out your inner “chef.” If you both have the time and the stomach, this idea is the one for you!

Movie night with takeout:

Whether you choose to watch a holiday movie, a rom-com, horror or SciFi, all that matters is the time you spend with your partner. Order a takeout meal from your favorite local restaurants such as Pizza Rock, North Italia or Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar. Cuddle up on your couch and indulge in your delicious meal and your favorite movies.

Donate to those in need:

Right now is the season of giving. Create time with your partner to get through some Winter cleaning around your apartment and start a pile of things you no longer want or need. Donate this pile to a local charity of your choice. It’ll feel great to give back to your community with the person you love!

Write/send holiday cards:

Send some holiday cards to your loved ones who aren’t spending the holidays with you this year. Or write a holiday love letter for your partner. It’s always a great day to make someone smile!
